From a Framer website to the pitch deck, the announcement video, and everything the company put in front of the world — Billables AI ran its entire visual presence through Plenor.

The client

Billables AI is an AI-native operational-intelligence platform for law firms. Its software watches how lawyers actually work and turns that activity into accurate, automated time tracking — so firms stop leaking billable hours. Hundreds of midmarket firms run on it, and in 2026 it was named Legal Tech Company of the Year at the Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards.

In June 2026 the company closed a $10.2M Series A led by Avenue Growth Partners, with Wing VC, SignalFire, and Alumni Ventures participating — building on a $3.9M seed from 2024.

By then, Plenor had been their design team for eight months.

The problem

Billables was moving fast: the product shipped weekly, the pipeline was growing, and a fundraise was coming. What they didn’t have was an in-house design team — and they were about to need design across every surface at once.

  • The website had to keep up with new features, proof points, and pages — with nobody dedicated to making that happen.

  • The raise needed materials that could carry the company’s story to investors who see hundreds of decks a quarter.

  • The momentum needed amplifying — across social, at conferences, in published work, and in the announcement itself.

Hiring a full in-house team would have been slow and expensive. Splitting the work across freelancers would have meant a different visual language on every one of the most important assets the company had ever produced. They wanted one partner who already knew the product and could move fast on all of it.

What Plenor did

The engagement started in October 2025 with the Framer website and grew the way good partnerships do — gradually, as needs came up, until everything visual flowed through one place. One weekly call with Nancy, one Slack channel, no ramp-up ever needed.

The website. A continuously evolving Framer site. We took a solid foundation with real technical debt and improved it week over week — new pages, performance fixes, constant iteration to keep pace with startup dynamics. Weekly batches, no backlog, and zero engineering hours spent on marketing pages. Eight months in, we spent a weekend proactively revamping the homepage — tighter layout, stronger performance, same DNA — and presented it unprompted at the next weekly. It’s rolling out page by page in the gaps between launch work.

Social media assets. A consistent visual system that let Billables post on-brand without a designer in the loop for every update — launch graphics, recurring post templates, LinkedIn carousels, announcement creative, and motion snippets — all speaking the same language as the site.

Conference assets. Event-ready collateral that carried the brand off-screen and into the room — booth and banner design, slideware, one-pagers and leave-behinds, and signage — matching everything Billables showed online.

Papers. Long-form, designed work that positioned Billables as a category authority in legal tech — laid out to be read and shared, not just published.

The Series A pitch deck. We designed the deck Billables used to raise the $10.2M round. Because we already knew the product, positioning, and brand from months of site work, there was no ramp-up — the deck spoke the same visual language as everything else the company put in front of people. A Series A deck isn’t a slide-template job; it has to carry the company’s story to investors who see hundreds a quarter, and this one did.

The Series A announcement video. When the round closed, we produced the animated announcement video that went live on billables.ai and on LinkedIn — the most public moment in the company’s history, designed by the same team that built everything leading up to it. Motion design that turned a press release into something people actually stopped to watch.

The result

  • $10.2M Series A closed, pitched with a deck designed by Plenor.

  • Announcement video live on billables.ai and LinkedIn at the moment of the raise — featured motion-design work.

  • Eight months of continuous website evolution (Oct 2025 → ongoing): new pages, technical improvements, and a full homepage redesign — with no in-house designer and zero engineering hours spent on marketing pages.

  • A full asset system spanning social, conference, and published papers — one consistent brand across every surface.

  • Covered by Law360 Pulse, LawSites, Artificial Lawyer, and the GlobeNewswire wire.

  • Named Legal Tech Company of the Year, 2026 Legalweek Leaders in Tech Law Awards.

Why this matters

When you’re scaling fast and raising, the materials that win your round and the website that converts your pipeline should come from one place — someone already onboarded on your product. Billables started with a website. Eight months later, the same partnership had produced the deck that raised their Series A, the video that announced it, and the social, conference, and published work in between — all in one visual language. That’s what a full design partnership looks like.
